With more than 2 million members, including honoraries like Desmond Tutu, Elie Wiesel and Bill Clinton, Golden Key carries an esteemed legacy of achievement. Members are a community with a linkage to widely respected individuals and ideals … all part of the continuum of excellence.

Chapter Highlights
The Macquarie University chapter was founded in 1993, and was among the first to be founded in Australia. Since its inception, the chapter has remained an active presence on campus. With 8,000 alumni and current student members, the chapter is always looking for interested members to get involved.
Golden Key has been helping Macquarie University members to unleash their potential through opportunities of regional and international summit attendance, undergraduate postgraduate and alumni scholarships, options to lead members through on campus committee as well as personal and professional development initiatives and workshops. The student chapter executive welcomes any participation from new members and is available for any information new members may require. The Executive Committee provides leadership opportunities, career events and community service activities on campus. Information about the next AGM (Annual General Meeting) for the chapter will be notified to members after the New Member Reception. Join your chapter community and participate!

ALEX ROUSSOS, Winner of the GEICO Life Scholarship 2016 and Executive Committee Member of Golden Key Macquarie University 2016

I am currently studying a double degree in Arts/Law majoring in Public Policy, Law and Governance. I would like to utilize my life experience and creative thinking to assist in formulating policies that alleviate the problems and challenges we face today. I would love to work and study overseas in Europe or the United States.
Golden Key’s commitment to academics, leadership and service reflect my core principles. I always strive to improve myself, to be the best I can be and to continually expand my comfort zone. Golden Key has enriched my study experience and helped me to forge friendships with likeminded individuals. I applied for the GEICO Life Scholarship with the assistance of our Chapter Advisor Dr Verity Greenwood. Dr Greenwood took the time out to get to know my life experiences and discuss my application with me. The advice on how to format my application was invaluable.
My proudest achievement to date in my role as Community Services Director of Golden Key Macquarie University has been conceiving, designing and delivering a weekly homework club for students in need of academic support at Ryde Secondary College. The homework club draws on financial support from the Parents and Citizens Association to provide funding for a supervising teacher.
Golden Key provides volunteer mentors to support students with their study. I have a deep passion about the importance of being a good citizen. As a parent, the best lessons I provide my children are by example. I am committed to reflecting the three pillars of Golden Key and to live my life in line with these central tenets. The GEICO Life scholarship will provide me with financial support to assist me in being able to continue to meet my commitments in study, leadership and community service. I’m very grateful for this amazing honour.
